Sad string of Lower Haight robberies!

Hello everyone!
I'm Jen, a new member of Lower Haight Community Org. I wanted to address the issue of robberies in the Lower Haight in recent months. Unfortunately, our place on Oak Street was robbed on the morning of the 3rd at 11:30AM, while I went to go pick up my laundry at the Wishy Washy... I was literally gone for 15 minutes max. The thieves got four Macbook laptops from our place (we've got students and web designers), cameras, two jars of change, and my pillow case (probably to stash the stuff in). The pillowcase was a cream colored one with flowers on it, in case anyone has seen anything suspicious.
Anyway, when I started calling neighborhood friends, the cops, and putting up flyers, I found that a lot of people have had this happen in the past couple months. I think it's important that we be on the lookout for strange behavior and to lock your doors. We can have a safer neighborhood and prevent further burglaries if we are watchful of our neighborhood.
Just in case you saw anything in regards to our robbery, please don't hesitate to call anonymously or not. No questions asked! (510) 367-1984
thanks you and be safe!
Jen

Jen, I saw your flyer on the corner (I got a good laugh because of the content but feel for you at the same time). I'm curious to know how this all went down. Was it forced entry or a door left open/unlocked? Certainly we need to be aware of situational factors, but I want to know just how serious the perps are getting. I imagine we'll see increasing crime in the neighborhood as the economy continues to nosedive, so yeah, let's all look out for each other.
